Ilfochrome Prints

Ilfochrome prints represent some of the highest quality photographic prints available today. Saturated color, outstanding resistance to fading,and excellent rendering of detail are the hallmarks of Ilfochrome (formerly Cibachrome) prints. The Frames

Frames are Nielsen anodized aluminum section frames. Frame colors in stock are silver, gold, anodic black and pewter ; other colors available by order. We now also stock maple frames.

The Mounting

Prints are hand mounted on 3/16" Gatorfoam with a special high tack/acid free adhesive. This combination of rigid board and adhesive ensure that the print lies flat behind the glass, regardless of humidity levels.

The Matting

Alphamat Artcare matboard by Bainbridge is the standard matboard supplied with all prints. A true "conservation" mat, alphamat is not only free of chemical impurities that could react with the print, it actually absorbs indoor pollutants which could affect the print over time. Available in a wide range of textures and colors.

The Glass

High quality Non-glare glass is standard on all photographs. Although this will eliminate the bulk of surface glare, sometimes glare can still be a problem. This is generally due to the placement of the photograph - hanging the photographs on a wall that is across from large windows, particularly without curtains, can cause substantial glare during the day.

By far the best cure for glare of this type is overhead lighting which can be projected onto the photograph. Lighting options range from simple "gooseneck" picture lamps to installed overhead lighting such as "wallwashers ". I highly recommend lighting your photos- the enhanced visual appeal is well worth the effort.

An alternative to no-glare glass for poor lighting situations would be to order the prints with an optional "matte laquer spray", which allows you to hang the framed prints without glass - the laquer finish will protect the delicate print surface, and allow cleaning of the print with a soft damp cloth. Becuase there is no glass, any glare problems are greatly reduced.

Availability

Any image you see in our galleries is generally available as a print, usually in any size. While we do stock some popular images , most orders are custom printed, each taking 2-4 weeks from order date to delivery of the artwork.
