Route differences - In 1973, the Northern terminus of the trail was at the Wescott Farm in Averyville. In 1978 it was re-routed from a point near Wanika Falls, and now follows the east bank of the Chubb River, ending at the Chubb River Bridge. This change added 2.6 miles to this end of the trail. On the south end, the old terminus was Benson Center, .6 miles further than the present end at the Godfrey Road Lot at Upper Benson.

In effect, this makes the 2005 route about 2 miles longer than the 1973 route. Any corrections to this theory are welcome.
